We have a whole host of brand new fabrics here at Fabric UK this month, so we though we would shine a spotlight on some of the most popular so you can determine how you might be able to use them as part of your latest project.
Made using pure virgin wool, Harris Tweed is perfect for adding a unique touch to one of your products and is created to strict quality standards. Made by islanders in the Outer Hebrides, it has a unique quality to it that most other fabrics aren’t able to match and it is definitely worth a little further investigation.
A range of top brands already make use of Harris Tweed, including Topman and Hugo Boss, but it is perhaps most impressive for the fact that each batch is created by hand. Woven on a treadle loom before being cleansed of any impurities, Harris Tweed is also individually inspected before being given the seal of approval, which ensures that you get a great batch of fabric every time. It is also available in a wide range of colours, which ensures you can get whatever you need for your latest project.

With a wide range of thicknesses available depending on your needs, acoustic foam is created with the intention of improving sound quality wherever it is placed. It is most commonly used in recording studios in an effort to cut down on resonance and improve the sound quality of whatever is being recorded.
For buyers this can also make it perfect for home studios and it is a great fabric for the musically inclined to investigate. It has a controlled cell structure that allows it to more adequately absorb sound, plus it also has excellent levels of flexibility so that it can be placed over most surfaces or hanged from walls if needed. It is currently only available in black but can be purchased to thicknesses ranging between 6-25mm.
To find out more about the fabric or to order a sample simply head to one of our Acoustic Foam fabric pages and investigate to find the thickness that suits your needs.
There are few things more irritating than having to deal with creases in a fabric, so it is always great when something comes along that has been designed to be creaseproof. It just makes life so much easier in addition to making the fabric ideal for a larger range of potential projects.
The creaseproof polyester is available in either black or white and is perfect for many projects, particularly when it comes to stage and set designs for the theatre. Its creaseproof nature means that it will not need to be maintained as regularly as other fabric and thus won’t lose its integrity through repeated uses or washes. Furthermore, it is made using 100% polyester.
