Celebrating the Tour De Yorkshire
Today I will be talking about Tour De Yorkshire, but from a different perspective. I will be concentrating on one woman, her generous work with the people in her local community, and what they did with 160 metres of fabric for the preparation and celebration of the Tour De Yorkshire. But first, a little information about this English version of the famous race.

This traditional rough open weave hessian fabric uses bitumen to achieve an extremely watertight protective covering. The black bitumen coating lays in-between the hessian fabric and the brown backing paper to create a fabric that will withstand vigorous and repetitive outdoor use.

Termed The Golden Fibre because of its golden colour, Hessian first became popular in India and Pakistan where it was used in the manufacture of paper and ropes. Hessian can also be made from Sisal, a widely cultivated Mexican plant that produces stiff fibres. Continue reading “Versatile Hessian for Construction Arts and Crafts”
Creating Great Window Displays
Is your shop window display dull, cluttered with random objects and dead flies?
Do you want your display to grab attention?
Then you came to the right place. Visual Merchandising or window displays are a very powerful tool for selling. Retail stores, chain stores and mid sized shops are competing for business, especially as the festive season comes around again. Most window displays are lacklustre due to limited resources and imagination, whilst the chain stores have a template that they stick to, making the displays uniform and uninteresting, too bland to turn heads. Most retailers create badly laid out displays with little or no thought given to balance, colour or lighting. They are often messy, random and totally uninspiring.
