Drill calico is a more heavyweight fabric than the regular option, this particular calico has a weight of 240gm per square metre. It’s a 3 by 1 weave, the technical term for this is 3110 calico. Our drill calico has a very taut structure and a close weave, showing the classic fine diagonal ridges of a drill fabric. The finish is only slightly rougher than our classic calico, with the typical speckling of the un-separated husk fibres woven into the fabric.
100% Cotton Calico Fabric
This light to medium weight natural calico fabric is perfect for a variety of projects. This calico comes to you in a loom state; this means this 100% cotton woven fabric is un-bleached, un-dyed and not pre-shrunk, so allow for a small amount of shrinkage. The weave gives the fabric a weight of 115gm per square metre and has an equal construction of 60x60x20; the technical term for this is 6020. Continue reading “Calico Fabric”

This traditional rough open weave hessian fabric uses bitumen to achieve an extremely watertight protective covering. The black bitumen coating lays in-between the hessian fabric and the brown backing paper to create a fabric that will withstand vigorous and repetitive outdoor use.
Bitumen is the English term for asphalt, a naturally occurring material that can be refined into a viscous semi liquid used for road production. Continue reading “Bituminised Hessian Kraft Paper Backing”
The natural colour and rough look of hessian fabric lends itself well to traditional country style themed events such as farmers markets, cider and beer festivals, craft fairs or barn dances!
This extra wide option is particularly useful for covering market stalls and tables for events such as these. Our fire retardant option is ideal for public use as the fabric has been treated with a fire retardant coating which will fit public events health and safety standards.
Coarsely woven jute hessian fabric, with all the attributes of classic hessian, strength, durability, environmentally friendly and colourful too! The rough jute fibres create a close weave, but not close enough to be entirely opaque, as with all hessian you will be able to see any background behind it.
Italian Melton Wool
The history of Melton wool making goes back hundreds of years in England, Scotland and wales. Melton wool was first produced in the Lancashire town of Melton Mowbray. The town and surrounding areas became a hub for the popular wool production, which was used by people from all walks of life from necessities like blankets to luxuries like fitted coats.

Everyone needs a little extra sparkle now and then. Some people have to sparkle every day, some wait for events for an excuse to glitter up. I fall into the category of glitter all day every day, and more on the weekends. Why wait? Life is short and there is so much sparkle out there to cover yourself with.
This little blog focuses on how useful glitter fabric is for one off bespoke creations or for small batches for a craft business. The two glitter fabrics for these ideas are the large glitter fabric and the fine glitter fabric. As shown in the photo below, there is some difference in the size of the glitter which covers the strong poly-cotton fabric backing. Which size you go for is up to you but some ideas work better with fine, some better with large. Both are very easy to cut and shape, though the fine glitter fabric is a little easier to work with so more intricate shapes will benefit from this surface.
