The Difference between Transparent, Translucent and Opaque Fabric may seem fairly straightforward to a lot of people working with textiles. But as with many things, some fabric does not fall easily into specified categories. In normal day to day situations transparent means completely see through. Just a few materials fall into that group, plastic, glass and very clear PVC natural crystal can all be seen through with no haze or texture. With fabric though, the physical state of the group is slightly different.
Classic rough weave Hessian fabric with the extra element of a very useful laminated surface applied to the back of the fabric. The traditional rough jute fibres are loosely woven into a simple mesh weave which would normally let water through, but with the clever addition of the laminate backing stops liquid passing through the fabric.
We have a range delightful colours in the Laminated Hessian to choose from bright cheerful shades to natural Hessian all at £3.99 a metre and measuring 120 cm wide. These bright colours are popular with arts and craft makers, school projects and visual merchandising.
This Hessian or burlap fabric holds all the classic qualities of jute Hessian, but also boasts a handy self adhesive backing along with a fire retardant coating.
The backing is protected with waxed paper which you can simply peel off to reveal a sticky coating covering the back of the Hessian so its ready to use for large or small scale projects.
Fire retardant calico is pre treated with Proban, this is an inherent fire retardant chemical used on fabric that requires durable and trustworthy treatment. Proban is a registered trademark, any fabrics treated with Proban must meet part of the licensee agreement which means fabrics are made to last and are put through a vigorous test for their wash durability.
Classic jute hessian available in a large range of fabulous colours . The hessian is constructed in the same way as our natural option, then solid dyed to produce seventeen great colours to choose from.
Jute fibres are woven into a course weave cloth which is semi opaque, you would be able to see any background colour behind the fabric. This gives the fabric a weight of approximately 275 grams per square metre, an average medium weight for hessian, perfect for the many tough tasks it can handle.
Two clear reasons for the application of sound regulation foam are to either reduce the sound waves or to enhance them.
We shall be looking into these two reasons along with just a little bit of the science behind why the foam works so effectively.
Most public events like food and drink fairs or music and arts events usually need to be checked by health and safety officials, so using fire retardant fabric is often expected in these situations.
The larger three metre wide width, strength and durability of our fire retardant the fabric makes it perfect for use with event designs, you can drape the fabric or cover a large space without having to see seams and joins in the fabric. Theatre props could also benefit from extra wide calico for as the fabric can be painted on easily to create backdrop scenery that will still adhere to health and safety regulations.
